Queen’s Park Reconstruction Project
What is happening?
Several stone panels will be removed from the exterior walls of the Macdonald Block Complex as part of an ongoing building condition assessment. The stones will be reinstated once they have been examined. The Macdonald Block Complex includes the Macdonald Block Podium, Hearst, Hepburn, Mowat and Ferguson Towers.
This assessment will begin on September 5, 2017 and will continue through November 2017. Work will occur during regular business hours, however, there will be some activities after business hours and on Saturdays. All work will be conducted in compliance with the City of Toronto Noise by-law.
How will this affect me?
A mast climber (i.e., metal scaffolding with a moveable work platform) will be erected on one façade of each tower and in select locations on the ground-level of the Macdonald Block Complex podium in order to remove the stone panels. In most cases, the access equipment will be installed behind the safety fencing already in place. If required, additional safety fencing will be installed. Barrier-free paths of travel to all main building entrances of the Macdonald Block Complex will be maintained.
Intermittent construction noise will be heard when workers are removing and reinstating the stone. These activities – including any after-hours work – will be conducted in compliance with the City of Toronto Noise by-law.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation as this work is being completed.
